I think I am going to go with an Onkyo surround sound. I really can't afford something more until maybe next year. Here is the one I am picking up Tuesday. I'm going to use component instead of hdmi. http://www.onkyousa.com/model.cfm?m=HT-S790&class=Systems&p=i | member Joined: Feb 6, 2007 Posts: 60 |
My mits hd1000u came today from projector people. All I can say is wow! Looks great right out of the box. I'll post pics once I get it set up. I also got the mount and cables today for it. I'll be hooking it up along with the Onkyo 790 I got to go along with it. Does anyone know if it will be compatable with my dell Inspiron E1705 laptop I just got. I am going in high gear now on my theater room. Also can I run my component cable along side my speaker wires or is it recommended to run them solo? Thanks for all the helpful replies so far. | member Joined: Dec 3, 2005 Posts: 99 |
there shouldn't be any problem with the video/audio cables being ran next to each other. I looked at the specs of your laptop, you can use the DVI output and an DVI-HDMI converter and you should be good to go. see this thread to see how things went with hooking their computer too that projector.. Thanks Kenny. I think when I had it hooked up to try it out I forgot to switch the LCD/CRT button. I think thats what I needed to do. Just a heads up for people buying the hd1000u from projector people. put in "save50" in the coupon code spot and ask them to pickup shipping. They will gladly. The projector will come to $849 shipped right to your door. I also bought a mount for it through monoprice.com. $20... Yeah thats right $20... As mentioned in a post here somewhere, the instructions suck and they do! However the mount is very easy to use. I have posted a pic. I put 1 washer under each arm that attaches to the projector and thats it. The rest is snap and tighten stuff. Very simple. 1 major tip for you if you are using this mount. There is a nut and bolt holding the swivel part of the assembly. ( this would be the one that attaches to the unit, not the ceiling!) Make sure you tighten it just a little. The weight of the unit makes it swivel on its own if you don't tighten this before hand. Other than that, very easy mount. I also bought a 24' component cable from monoprice and my subwoofer cable. They are the cheapest by far. I am almost ready for paint. I need directv here and I can wrap up mu final piece of drywall.

Interesting looking universal projector mount, looks like a bargain for $20. I know you are planning to use component cable but I hope you also install HMDI for future use. I am looking forward to hearing your review of the Onkyo system you purchased. My first front projector - a Kloss Novabeam 100 (1986). |
