I'm placing all my components in a hidden area of the room (behind seats, in closet) and i don't have a RF remote to control them. What i am really looking for is a IR transmitter extender that would allow me to use the remotes i have point them at a IR reciever and have it transmit to the componets. All i've seen so far is what's at Best Buy, CC, etc... My friend had this done by a prof company but can't find the info i need. They are little recieving transmitter that attach to the IR window of the component. Help? Thanks | moderator Joined: Mar 28, 2005 Posts: 13,263 |
It's called an IR repeater system, and this is EVERY part you will need to accomplish the task: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=182-438$200 Realistically, this is a fairly expensive solution as you still have to use every individual remote to control your equipment. Why not go with an RF universal remote? Like the MUCH respected Universal Remote MX-850? http://www.universalremote.com/products/index.php?item=mx850With RF receiver... http://cgi.ebay.com/MX-850-MX850-850-MRF-250-Aeros-BRAND-NEW-BEST-ON-EBAY_W0QQitemZ9705768616QQcategoryZ61323QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemAbout 255 bucks - MUCH cooler than a stack of remotes no matter what. I'm wondering what Wolverine did to solve the problem. I'm thinking of putting a mirror on the wall and seeing if that helps reflect my signal. If it does, I will take my screen down and install a mirror behind my screen. If it doesn't, I'll be looking for a universal RF remote control, I suppose.
Does anyone know if the universal remote will control and Onkyo surround sound, Sony projector, LG (yeah, don't laugh) DVD player and a Samsung OTA HD receiver?
Thanks in advance! |
