Hi,
I am just wanting to know if it's worth upgrading from my current Epson tw8300 to a LG hu810p laser projector. It's currently on a half price sale. Thanks. Reasons why and why not would be amazing. | moderator Joined: Mar 28, 2005

I would not. The 5040UB (USA Version) / TW8300 is a very good model with a excellent lens on it and solid contrast. The HU810P will have slightly better sharpness due to the DLP tech, but the contrast will be significantly worse, which will be immediately noticeable.
Going from the Epson, the upgrade paths are the newer/better Epson models, JVC, or maybe Sony LCoS models. I like DLP, but the contrast just isn't as good, and unless you are a gamer, maybe buying for the first time, it isn't the direction that I would likely go.
Your choice of course. AV Integrated - Theater, whole house audio, and technology consultation during the build and installation process in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. |
