To anyone who has the Epson Home Cinema 4010, have you had success getting it to work with either an Amazon Fire TV Stick or Roku Steaming Stick? After 2 hours with tech support, I was unsuccessful in getting either to work with this projector. They will send me a replacement, but I’m wondering if it’s not an incompatibility issue.

Also, if anyone else has failed to get these devices to work together, it would help greatly to know that as well.

Both Streaming sticks work perfectly on my BenQ 3550.

Thanks, so much!

I'm not sure I've run into any issues with streaming devices with any Epson projector. I've gotta ask what the output is set to on the Fire product? If it is set to 4K/60hz, then that is a resolution that is not supported by the 4010. The 4010 only has a HDMI 1.4a input on it. This supports 4K, but not HDR or full 4K/60 which is what the 3550 supports. If you connect the Fire TV to your 3550 and lower the resolution to 1080p, or something like that, then connect it to your 4010, you may find that it works without a problem.

That would be my GUESS as to what is going on. I have very much been recommending people steer clear of the 4010 in favor of the 3800 or 5050 as both support full bandwidth 18Gb/s HDMI 2.0 connectivity.

Thanks for the reply. We did try changing the resolution from 4k to 1080p both 50 and 60Hz and still could not get a picture. Based on your experience with Epson and streaming devices, I’m concluding that the unit is defective. I’m sending it back and also taking your advice about considering the 5050. Thanks again!

Hope it goes smooth for you. I've certainly had weird issues over the years with some projectors. I swore off BenQ for a few years (15 or so years ago now) when I had to return the same model 3 different times. But, one of the times it worked with every HDMI source EXCEPT the Playstation 3 hooked up to it. No idea why. Literally put a new one in, and it worked just fine.

HDMI and copyright stuff can be wonky.

Hi. I recently got the Epson 4010 and wanted to know if there should be a lens cooling fan that comes on after you power down the projector. On my epson it goes completely silent after 2 or 3 seconds of powering off. My old panasonic PT-AE8000 projector I would hear the cooling fan for a couple of minutes after powering off. Thanks
