Hi,

I'm new in projectors world and I'm looking for a good projector mainly for cinema and tv shows, and sometimes I'll see some sports. Maximum budget is 1500/1600€.

I've seen good reviews for the BenQ700STi, it's around my maximum budget and my ideal throw distance.
On the other hand, I see that is made for gamers in mind, and I don't know if for the same price I can get something better for movies and sports. I don't care gaming, I'll never use it for gaming.
I can see for example Benq and Epson have other models oriented to home cinema, around the same price, but i don't know which are the main differences. Lumens are more or less the same, 100% color rec too, maybe contrast or HDR differences?

Finally, I see most of the current models were released on 2019, 2020, so.. maybe it's best to wait for new line series?

I'm open to hear and learn from any advise.

Not sure what's available from BenQ across the pond. But, their HT3550 is one of the better home theater models built more for best in class color and contrast. A step up for movie viewing over the 700Sti model.

I think it may be the W2700 in Europe. Should be similarly priced.

One of the hottest models from BenQ this year is the X3000i, but that's also more of a gaming model. No news on a similar model which does home theater first with best in class contrast. My expectation is that we will see this at some point, but no news yet.

Hi,
Thank you very much for your answer, best color and contrast is what I'm looking for.

I've looked for benQ as I've heard is one of the best quality projectors, but I'm open to other brands too..

How about Epson? Do they have better quality for same price?

Epson makes some decent models. Their US model 3200 and 3800 units are very nice. I am not sure what the EU version of those models are exactly.

The cheaper Epson models do not hold up as well against the DLP rivals at the same price, but their mid-tier and better models certainly do.
