I'm considering replacing a 75" LCD with a UST setup in a living room, but I'm wondering if it's going to work with my requirements.

The Optima CinemaX P2 (3k lumen) looks like the right thing for me, placed very close to the wall to produce an 85" image. I'm intentionally not trying to get a 100+" setup.

The ambient light to the projection surface is significant, measured at 500 lux at mid day. In the evening with "movie lighting" it's down to 25 lux. The calculator here says the projector at that distance is good for "high ambient light" but I don't know how high it means.

The whole point of removing the TV is to eliminate a giant rectangle as the focal point of the room, so I don't want a big projection screen either, even though I know you're supposed to have an ALR screen in this situation.

The wall is painted a very smooth matte white (PPG Speedhide 6-0011 "ultra flat") so I was going to start with that as a projection surface.

I'm also open to using a white projection paint, as I'm going to do an interior repaint this year anyway. Though I don't know enough about those to choose one.

Given the ambient light and the no-screen requirement, is this worth pursuing? I know we're not in "ultimate home theater experience" territory here but I do want a good image when watching broadcast news before dinner and 4k HDR movies on Saturday night.
