AV_Integrated: will it matter that the 1761 has 2600 lumens? My 1716 was 2700 and the 1771 is 3000. | moderator Joined: Mar 28, 2005 Posts: 13,326 |
10% is very little when it comes to brightness. If your old model was sufficiently bright, then 2,600 lumens vs. 2,700 lumens is nothing and should be just fine. That's more your call. A lot more brightness will cost a fair bit more money. Often with a fair bit more size to them.
I'm not sure I would sweat 2,600 vs. 3,000 lumens considering the price difference and if you were happy at 2,700 lumens, you should remain happy. AV_Integrated: so I just found out that a couple of my colleagues have been using this Optima. They say that it is bright enough for our classes. I'm a little skeptical. Thoughts? Love the idea of how small it is... https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00GGGQHG8/ref=mp_s_a_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1488902075&sr=8-14&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=optima+projectors | moderator Joined: Mar 28, 2005 Posts: 13,326 |
I would find it extremely dim for a typically sized screen. If you have someone you know who has one, which you can see, I would do that. But, the LED models are extremely dim compared to the lamp based models.
Casio has some cheaper laser models, but they cost a fair bit more. Around $1,000 or so.
For LED models, AAXA and LG make several models as well which are similar. Yes, they are small. I think they are about a couple of years out from getting brighter. Likely through the use of laser technology.
