I don't know how that felt tape will look on the wall. I bet it will look phony, like "tape on the wall". I don't know the price of velvet either, but you can find out.
What I did was paint my entire screen wall black. Then I hung my DIY screen, so no border needed. I think it looks great, the screen appears to be floating in space. | member Joined: Jan 12, 2007 Posts: 13 |

The tape isn't going on the wall, it's going on the screen edge to cover where it will be staples on the frame. I think it will look good, just not sure if it's as functional as velvet. Sounds like it isn't. This is a rental house so there's no way I would paint the wall black. | moderator Joined: Mar 28, 2005 Posts: 13,326 |
If you spend $25, you should have gotten a few yards of velvet from a fabric store instead.
I personally made a frame, and I used baseboards from Home Depot, wrapped them and stapled them around with velvet, then put the border on the frame as a fully wrapped and true 'frame' for the screen. It looked very good. Wasn't terribly expensive. I might give this a shot, not planning to start building the screen until tonight or tomorrow. Just purchased all the supplies a couple days ago. |
