Topic: Surround sound ???

...I have 4 older [ KEF C75's]......And im gonna buy a center channel speaker...[kef also]..But...I have been out of the LOOP as far as SURROUND SOUND UNITS..go..??? Whats GOOD for the PRICE and what will power the 4 OHM speakers,150 watts..??? I just wanna HOOK UP some SPEAKER WIRES and SET the LEVELS and thats it...I wanna keep it simple.!! Generally speaking, most decent receivers will do the job. A Denon 2808 or better, the Yamaha 3800 (3900?) will do it. Many of the Pioneers, etc.
Some of these receivers may say '8 ohms' but they have the guts to run better for sure.
You could also go with a lesser expensive receiver, like the forthcoming Denon 2308 and then use an external amplifier to power the speakers. ..Well Heres what I have...I have an Old " G.A.S Amp and a Mackie....I have an old "Apt Holman preamp"....which I was using for the 4 speakers..but now I want Surround sound?? I thought about getting the " Surround Pre amp" and using my stuff but i still wont have power for the NEW Center channel speaker?? [that I didnt buy yet].....So now what?? Buy a NEW AMP for the CENTER Channel.?? Im just trying not to go crazy on this project...And buy stuff i dont need... |
