Topic: Laminate or waterproof bathroom wallboard as a screen

I have read some posts here that suggest using a waterproof white plastic wallboard for a screen. I went to home depot today and they carry 8x4 sheets that are pure white and have a shiny finish. I also noticed next to them 8x4 sheets of laminate that are also white but have a slight texture to them (very sutle). For good image projection is a dull or shiny white surface better?
Can either one of these poducts produce a good image? | founding member Joined: Mar 25, 2005 Posts: 2,534 |
You want a dull or flat finish. What you're talking about sounds like a Parkland Plastics panel. It's a very popular DIY screen. There's a lot of info at Avsforum about it. | member Joined: May 8, 2007 Posts: 4 |
What works better? A shiny screen that reflects more light or a dull screen that absorbs more light? | member Joined: May 8, 2007 Posts: 4 |
Didregard my last post. Misread it.
So the laminate makes more sense as it is a dull finish. I guess absorbing light is the key rather then reflecting it. | member Joined: Apr 3, 2007 Posts: 16 |
