Now that I've replaced my Infocus LP730 on the theater ceiling mount with a new PT-AE900U, I plan to use the LP730 as a portable "slide projector" to project digital pictures when I visit relatives, etc.

When I calibrated the PT-AE900U using the AVIA disk, I was a little surprised to learn the full effect of the sharpness adjustment (I had always thought of it only as a filter for noisy signals). This calibration made me realize that my LP730 is in desparate need of a reduction in the sharpness setting to eliminate the too-light edge around the sharp edges of high-contrast transitions (I'm not talking about the dreaded ghosting degradation these projectors are prone to here).

The problem is that the adjustments accessible through the menu screen contain no sharpness control, and I haven't as yet found an internal trimmer for it. It seems inconceivable to me that this isn't adjustable (at least internally)!

I know it's a longshot, but does anyone know if the LP7XX family of projectors has an internal trimmer for sharpness (or any other way of adjusting it)? They treat their service manuals as totally proprietary, so getting a hold of one of them doesn't seem like an option, and I'm not about to pay to have this thing serviced.
