Hi all

I have a Canon LV-S1 at home which seems to have trouble receiving input through it's Component & VGA connections. I have tried connecting different devices (ranging from PCs to a DVR to a Xbox360) and none of them seem to work. My goal is to use the Xbox360's HDTV output on my projector - it can output in both 720p and 1080i. I tried forcing the projector to a certain signal but no dice.
When I try connecting through the VGA port is also doesnt work, regardless of resolution. The menu just gives me the ---- no signal message.

Using the composite and S-Video inputs pose no problems btw, it's solely through component and VGA.

any suggestions? is this a common problem? perhaps some firmware-related issue (although i have scoured the internet for firmware news, to no avail).

About the only thing I could come up with is that the menu allows you to force component to look for a specific signal type coming in.

Page 31 of the manual describes this.

If you have no luck I would call Canon and try to get help, unfortunately, the projector, despite only being a few years old, is fairly dated for HD usage and the lower SVGA resolution is not going to give you nearly the results that a HD projector would with better sources. Might be time to start saving for a HD projector... Not ideal, I know.

thanks for the quick reply

i tried forcing the resolution. didnt work though.
i also had a lot of fun with canon's customer care service - it was a clear case of me knowing more about their products than they did. imagine my frustration when this woman was telling me the lv-s1 theoratically supports HD but has no inputs for it (she was talking about a HDMI input0; according to her it's impossible to send 720p and up through analogue cables.

i was thinking about getting a new projector when this bulb fries.. i had an idle hope this was a fixable issue though. the projector has given me the "lamp dying" signal for over two years now and it still works

no known firmware updates for this thing then, eh? (i've never updated anything on this thing ysee).
