I want to hide my equipment behind my couch (cable/satellite box, receiver, dvd player, etc.) but have concerns about what is needed to turn the infrared remotes into RF remotes so they will work behind me without having to turn around and point the remote to the rear of the room. Any suggestions?

Really cool: Crestron

Really cool AND affordable:

I would go with a Logitech Harmony universal remote and the above product if I were to go RF right now.

IR repeater systems also work nicely and don't lock you into a single remote.

Don't forget: If you are putting all your gear into a closed cabinet, be darn sure you are properly ventilating your gear. #1 reason for product failure that I have seen is people putting their stuff into un-vented cabinetry. The gear fries itself.
