I bought one of Vivitek's 51" DLP's and it has been nothing but a headache. By all accounts, with what it has, it should be great, but the picture is not clear at all no matter what components, cords or settings I use. If anyone else has experienced this, I'd like to know. Thanks!

I too just bought the Vivitek 56". We just hooked it up and I must say I am not to pleased with the picture. Does the unit automatically display in 1080? We do not have digital cable yet, I figured this may have been why the picture wasn't AS clear as what Ive seen. Also, this unit is HD isn't it, because when I programed my PS2 to switch to HD for Gran Turismo 3, well it didn't.

This tv is HD and it should be pulling in any "over-air" hd broadcasts like your local channels. In the settings menu you probably noticed that you can set the tv to receive hd maually or automatically. I am not sure how to switch it for your game consoles except that whatever component you have it plugged into they may let you set it manually for that certain component. With digital cable or satellite, it should, by all accounts, look great. I decided to keep my tv because the technology it has is pretty good for the price. I have found that my reception is clearer through my VCR as it is a "repeater" that boosts the channel's reception. I'm hoping when I get DirecTV that it will look great. If you compare what these tv's(51" and 56") have to offer, it should be a great deal for the price. From what I understand, Vivitek has a fairly long OEM history with some of the bigger names. Check out my other topic on Vivitek dark/bright issues for more.
