after all the research i decided to get the infocus 4805.
now im stuck with another problem, save 300 bux and get the refurbished one, or get a brand new one and feel like a douchebag when with some bad luck the new one breaks
anyone have problems with refurbs??? from what i heard they are pretty much brand new ones in a different box
no idea...

You mileage may vary.

The problem with Refurbs is that no one knows.

Could be a simple "did not want" or something with a major problem that was “fixed” when it was refurbed or something with an intermittent problem that will end up getting you.

As you say, a new one can break just as easily. In the end, you have to buy what ever you are comfortable with, be it new or refurbished.

I will buy a refurb only if I can return the unit for a full refund if I find something wrong within a two week period. Most likely any defect will show up if you really check it out over the first couple weeks. I usually never buy an extended warranty but if a cheap one is offered to bump the warranty up from 90 days then I might consider it. There seems to be an awful lot of refurb 4805s. Wonder if anyone knows why. Good luck.

Hello,
I just bought a refurbished H76 but for a price of about half of a new one! It comes with a new bulb and gauranteed against DOA. I can buy a 3-year warranty for $150 more. I have not bought extended warranty yet and may not buy it. The projector has not arrived yet.

Regards, Ramin

so i just ordered the sp4805 from butterflyphoto.com
they offer a 3 year bulb replacement plan, which i got
it kicks off after the 90 days which manufacture covers for parts and gives you one bulb replacement per year
i just cant see myself paying more than a third of the projector's cost for a lamp

and i did get the refurb one
