Hi all,

I just purchased the AE700 and would like to hook up the DVD player using component cables. One of the component connection options listed in the review on Projector Central was to use the VGA 15 pin input. Assuming this was accurate info, I bought a 25ft cable on line that had 3 RCA plugs on one end and the VGA 15 pin on the other and decided to give this a try. When I hooked it up, the AE700 didn't recognize a signal from the DVD player in either the "PC" mode or the "Component" mode. I verified the component input and output from the DVD player and projector using standard patch cables. I'm guessing that there is a setting burried in options that changes the input from expecting VGA to Component. The manual doesn't go to this detail. Does anyone have any experience with this connection?

Also, is there any quality differences between using the 15 pin component input vs. the standard 3 plug component?

Thanks in advance.

Your DVD player doesn't have component nor HDMI outputs?

Sorry if that wasn't clear. The DVD has component outputs but no HDMI. I want to connect to the DVD component output and input to the projector using the VGA 15 pin, which would be read as a component source, not a PC source.

Why wouldn't you just hook the DVD player to the 3 RCA component input on the AE700? It's easier than trying to find a workaround.

The main reason was that I found an inexpensive ($25.00) cable that had these connections. Any video only component cable that I found started at $100 for a 25 ft length. In addition, if I needed to add another component source, I had the spare connection.

Also, I didn't think it was a "work around" since projector central stated that it can accept a component signal via the VGA input.

So, now that I already have the cable, I'm wondering why the projector isn't accepting the signal.
