Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 8700 UB

Projector Reviews
I feel really sad about my projector but know I did this to myself with a stupid mistake.

I have an Epson Powerlite Home cinema 8700UB. I made the mistake of plugging the video-audio converter with the wrong power chord. the converter is designed for a DC 5v, but I plugged it with an AC 24V. Sparks and burning ensued. (yes I know that was a stupid mistake). Now my projector's receiver isn't working. I tried all the inputs on the projector. VGA/HDMI but no image shows up. I know that the lights still work since when I turn on the projector it still loads the Epson symbol (only slower) and then the projector goes to power save mode. I also can't access the menu screen though.

1. is just the projector receiver damaged or there is a bigger issue since I can't access the menu either?

2. Can The projector be repaired? (I bought it used so there is no warranty). I would be willing to spend about $300 for repairs.

3. Should I just buy a replacement 8700 or 8350 so I can make use of the parts from the broken 8700? (can people custom build projectors like computers where you can take the components from the 8700 to upgrade an 8350?) at least I can still use the old bulb as a replacement

4. Should I just abandon hope and buy an entirely new and different projector?

mate your projector is still worth money for the optical parts. these parts burn out for us unlucky souls.
the globe, the prism and lcds, lenses, polarisers, are all what ppl like me need. personally i need the prism/lcd assembly.
take it apart and sell each bit on ebay. You will be helping Everyone and yourself.

Can you direct me to a website that will show me what these parts are? I have taken apart the projector but don’t know what are the optical parts
