I have a a CP-X265 Projector that I would like to have on a schedule. My understanding of the manual is that this is possible if you access the networking page. The IP of the projector is 192.168.1.193 (I have it on a local network for troubleshooting) and when I try to access that via a browser it returns an briefly titles the page as "Logon" then Spits out an SSL Error.

How can I circumnavigate this protocol mismatch?

Is there anything about the setup which requires you to enter the address as https:// instead of http:// ?

It's worth saying that this projector is a 10 year old design and may have networking complications that haven't been updated in the last decade as the rest of technology has moved on.

Unfortunately, network capabilities of projectors from that era, and even today, tend to be all over the place. It really bugs me that there is basically no information in the manual that I saw which said what the heck the network port was for.

I would think that there is NOT a web server in the projector, so you can't connect to it directly through a web browser. Instead, you likely need to use Hitachi specific software from 10 years ago to manage the operation of the projector.

Ping the IP address of the projector and see if you get a good response on the network. Then run the Hitachi software for their projector management, whatever that may be. Then put the IP address of the projector into the software.

That SHOULD allow you to do whatever functionality of control is available to the software.

I found this, and if you have not yet, you should look through this:

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/480444/Hitachi-Cpx265-Xga-Lcd-Projector.html?page=2

Seems like that may have some network specific information that may help, if you haven't seen it already.

It does specify https. And I used that format. I have looked at both manuals extensively. Looking at other manuals of network projectors from that time. It seems to specify Windows XP SP2 or later.

I will try a VM later

I'm worried this is more a https issue, with old security features, than anything else. I do assume you pinged the projector and are getting a good response.

Otherwise, you aren't likely to get much of a response from any projector forum because of the technical specific question and the age of the projector in use, along with the relative non-popular nature of the Hitachi models overall.

I would be trying only Internet Explorer, and try to keep it within a few generations of what is required in the manual. But, it may be very painful to get working.
