Im building a mancave home theater in my basement. Half of my basement is finished with one side being tile and the other is carpeted. On the carpeted side I already have an LG projector, projecting right onto a wall. That side will be the home theater side. Its roughly 16ft long with the projector in that direction and about 14ft wide with about 6.5ft height drop ceiling. Im looking for a 5.1 setup since the couch will be against the back wall. Bookshelf speakers for front right and left that I would like to hang to keep out of the way. My only experience is my livingroom system which is a 5.1 pioneer speaker system that I bought in the early 2000s from circuit city and a pioneer receiver that I bought used. I feel that it sounds good so you know what level of listening Im from, haha. Itll be mostly for tv and movies with some music here and there which I mainly listen to heavy metal and hard rock.
Ive been researching around over the past few weeks and see a lot in the Klipsch and B&w brand along with SVS. Im fine with buying used and piecing together but would like to know what too look for. I've been scouring ebay for older Klipsch reference line like the RB35, rs35 and rc35 but that center speaker is just massive so Im not entirely sold on it. I do like what I hear throught Klipsch speakers so thats why Ive been looking at them. My budget isnt large maybe 500-600 on the 5 speakers then spend what I may need for the appropriate sub and receiver. I figure I can buy things seperately over several months and piece the entire system together to help spread out the cost. Figure out what speakers to look for and go from there.
