I have had my AE700U for a few months now, and am quite happy with it, but for an artifact that is rather distracting. I can sometimes see a "billowing cloud" effect moving left-to-right on the screen. I assume this to be heat distortion in the projection path. It only happens in scenes with bright white backgrounds, and seemingly more likely watching standard definition signals than HD. The projector is further from the screen than I would like, so the zoom is at its extreme. There also is a setting to increase the fan speed, but that seemed to have no effect on the artifact nor on the volume of the fan. Anybody else seen anything like this?

I was thinking that was a thumbprint on the lens... just haven't got around to cleaning the lens.

Mine doesn't move... I think I will clean the lens tonight and see if it is heat distortion or thumbprint.

I do not use the lens cap because then you have to refocus... big deal takes 2 seconds... perhaps I will start using the lens cap again.

cheers
