I have the Hitachi CPX5 projector that uses a 15 pin cable to connect the projector and the laptop. I just bought a new laptop and it doesn't have a 15 pin connection. What sort of cable do I need to purchase to make the connection? The in addition to having 2 15 pin ports, the projector has a USB port that is square and a normal USB port that can be used for a flash drive.
It also has the round video in and video out ports. | moderator Joined: Mar 28, 2005 Posts: 13,075 |
The projector has no digital inputs on it, so you will need to tell us exactly which computer you are trying to connect and what connectors are on that computer. If your computer has a DisplayPort connection on it, then you will need a DisplayPort to VGA adapter, and then just a VGA to VGA cable to connect the laptop to the projector. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815158150and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812576014So, about 30 bucks or so if you have DisplayPort on your computer. If you have HDMI on your computer, you will need an external video card or a HDMI to VGA converter. No single cable actually converts HDMI into VGA, even though they do sell those cables, they won't work. Probably better to get an external USB to VGA adapter (video card). http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812866007Then use the same VGA cable linked above. About $50 if you need to go this route. By the specifications, it also has 1 HMDI port on it. So, you will need an external VGA video card to get VGA output to the projector. I have a 15 pin cable that goes from the projector to the laptop with male ends. Is the one you recommending different than that? 6 bucks is no big deal, but if I already have the cable, no sense in having 2 of them |
