I've been assigned to find a projector that we can use in a gymnasium setting. The projector will be used for power points, movies, visual aids for students, and lesson plans.

Ceiling height - approximately 25 feet
Screen size goal - 12ft. x 16ft.
Ceiling mount will be utilized with safety cage
Distance from wall to projector mount can vary from 10ft to 30ft
Cost - $1000 - $2500

Projector will need to be utilized while lights are on so lumens will be an issue. The current portable projector currently being used just doesn't have enough lumens and becomes a safety issue when classes are in sessions.

Any help in this matter would be much appreciated. Thanks

Frankly, your budget is completely out of proportion to the desired screen size.

16x12= 192 square feet. Under normal fluorescent lighting, the minimum lumen rating for the projector should be at 80 lumens per square foot. 192x80= 15,360...

So, a budget of $15,000+ is appropriate for the desired screen size to create an image that is appropriately bright for the space.

Beyond this, you simply just buy the brightest projector your budget affords and forget everything else and accept whatever image that you end up getting.
