My department is considering setting up a 3D projector for research and outreach purposes. Much of our data (geophysics) is 3D in nature, so such a setup will be greatly beneficial.
My questions are:
1. What type of projector should we get?
2. What is the common file format for 3D projection?
3. What software do we need for playing such files?
4. What software do we need to *create* such files from our data sets?

Our budget is a few thousands (maybe $4K-5K)
