Hey all - new to the forum, but sure someone out there will be able to answer my question.

I recently acquired a dead Toshiba rear projection TV, and after determining that it would be too expensive to attempt to repair, I started pulling it apart for scrap. When I pulled the screen off, I noticed 4 small circuit boards, Toshiba part #23537942, one in the middle of each edge of the screen (see att'd image). I have had no luck determining what these units are there for. What little I've found seems to indicate that it's a gallium arsenide unit, which says diode to me. Is it some kind of photodiode, maybe used for convergence or balancing of some sort?

Thanks in advance!
