Hi,

I work in a school, we have 100+ projector.

We have some question on if it's better to keep our projector ON in between class or turn them off?

I've made some search and some people say that you lost about 4 hour of lamp life each time you turn it off then On. Some other say it's only 30 minutes...

Does someone has some real information on this?

Thank you !

There is no real information on this but the general rule is that 20-30 minutes is the time. If you won't be using the projector for a full class, then turn it off. If it will be used in one class, then the next, and the time is 20 to 30 minutes, or less, then leave it on.

Better: Get the Casio projectors which don't use lamps.

IMO, there is no reason in the world why any school should be using any other projector than the Casios moving forward. Buying a cheap projector, then spending $400+ a year to maintain it with new lamps is not the thing to do.

LED projector price are too hight for now. we have about 125 projector and it would really cost too much to replace them all !

We buy ~500$ projector and replace lamp when needed. But we don't change lamp that often.

Thanks for your input.

If you have a short time in between classes or whatever you are doing it is probably best to use the A/V mute which blanks the screen and puts the lamp in low power and saves lamp life.
