Hello Everyone,
Great to have a forum on PJCentral! I am wanting to buy a Panasonic AE700, but am a little concerned about the VB. On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being worst), how much do you Panny owners feel the VB takes away from your viewing enjoyment.
Thanks,

I have had my Panny 700 since the beginning of November and have never seen any VB at all. I could not be more happy with this projector, it is perfect for the home cinema with the 2X zoom lens, and horizontal/vertical lens shift, and the picture is truly spectacular.

I did not know what was VB at the beginning of using the projector. Only after reading many reports on the web, did I know what to look for, and then realised that my projector had VB all along (I guess "Ignorance is bliss"!).

I had posted on other forums that I find the colour uniformity on my set more disturbing than the VB. Perhaps it's due to my background as a CRT engineer previously that made my eyes more sensitive to colour variations than other defects. Even my wife has difficulty identifying when VB has occurred (understanbly so, since she's less of a movie buff & lacks technical knowledge about video quality).

I would say that after some tweaking in the flicker settings and over 100 hours of use (with care not to leave the standby power for long periods), my set shows only very faint VB on less than 1% of movie scenes (i.e. if I'm watching a typical 2hour movie, I'll probably be able catch glimpses of faint VB totalling to less than 1 minute in duration).

So for me, I would give a rating of less than 1 (although you've ask for the scale of between 1 to 10), for the amount that the VB disrupts my enjoyment of movie watching.

It depends on how picky you are. I used to see the VB, but only because I was looking for it.

I now have over 500 hrs on the pj and never see it anymore.

I have a little more than 200 hours on my AE700 now and can't wait to get home each night to turn it on. I won't claim to be a trained eye yet, but haven't seen any VB at all.

This projector has clearly surpassed all of my expectations. You can't go wrong with this little beauty!
