I did not know what was VB at the beginning of using the projector. Only after reading many reports on the web, did I know what to look for, and then realised that my projector had VB all along (I guess "Ignorance is bliss"!).
I had posted on other forums that I find the colour uniformity on my set more disturbing than the VB. Perhaps it's due to my background as a CRT engineer previously that made my eyes more sensitive to colour variations than other defects. Even my wife has difficulty identifying when VB has occurred (understanbly so, since she's less of a movie buff & lacks technical knowledge about video quality).
I would say that after some tweaking in the flicker settings and over 100 hours of use (with care not to leave the standby power for long periods), my set shows only very faint VB on less than 1% of movie scenes (i.e. if I'm watching a typical 2hour movie, I'll probably be able catch glimpses of faint VB totalling to less than 1 minute in duration).
So for me, I would give a rating of less than 1 (although you've ask for the scale of between 1 to 10), for the amount that the VB disrupts my enjoyment of movie watching.
