I know this forum is for completed home theatres, and although there is still some icing to be added to the cake, I've got the basics down. Here is my cost breakdown:

BenQ W500 Projector: $799
Phillips DVD Player: $39
92" Elite Screen : $100
Ceiling Mount: $30
Already had: old JBL speakers (est. worth $50), 1970s Pioneer Stereo Receiver (est. worth $25)

Total: $1,043

If the screen were any bigger, pixelation would be an issue.

I often have to tweak the brightness/contrast for certain movies.

Next I want to add some blackout curtains, still need an hdmi cable (currently using component), and later on surround sound.

The fan noise has bothered me a couple times, but it's quiet enough that I rarely notice it. In the winter, I have to turn the heat off when I watch a movie, or that fan will scream! (the vent is basically pointed right at it).
