I would like to start a new thread here with any updates concerning Vivitek DLP RPTV's--Good or Bad.

I bought my 51" Vivitek back in December of 2005. I had to go through quite an ordeal returning 2 of these sets before my third which I still have and still use every day.

I have recently replaced my lamp and my color wheel by myself and would like to offer any help I can to anyone who has any questions.

Or, if anyone has any experiences of their own they would like to share, here is your place to do so.

I recently sent an email to Vivitek to convey a few concerns and let them know that we are still out here and we haven't gone away:

As a long time customer of yours who purchased a Vivitek RP51HD41A television back in 2005, I hope your company has plenty of parts available for these tv's so many of us bought. I have been a pretty staunch supporter of your tv, not your customer service. I am active in many online forums discussing Vivitek and the DLP technology. However, most customers including me have spent more time discussing the Vivitek corporation and it's poor customer service.

Many of us have had to go through hoops and mazes of emails and phone calls that led to nowhere, spending time and money we didn't have looking for answers and solutions to questions and problems we shouldn't have had.

So, I am hoping that there will be replacement parts available to all of us who paid good money for these sets. Luckily I stumbled upon www.vancebaldwin.com recently and was able to find the color wheel I needed and replace it myself. Since then I have gone to the people in the Vivitek forums and let them know there are parts there. Unfortunately on the www.vivitekcorp.com site, your RMA request form is a damaged file and the latest Adobe is unable to repair it so I can't see a parts and price sheet. Please send me a full parts and prices list for my model to:

Or send in an email reply. I'd really like to help you keep some credibility with all of the customers who helped Vivitek become what it is today. Thank you.

Here is a site you can go to to look for parts for the DLP tv's. They also carry parts for many other brands.

www.vancebaldwin.com

Click on "guest" sign in and then type in your model# (RP51HD41A) into the corresponding box and search. They have many parts.

I also made an error by purchasing a Vivitek 51" DLP TV in 2005. Customer service was horrible!
Anyway, trying to make the best of it. I have replaced bulbs twice...about Average I would think, although bulbs dont last the 10000 hrs as advertised at the time. Now I have to replace a color wheel..has anyone done this before, and if so, what can you provide for reference... pictures, video...anything!
Thanks

I have recently replaced my color wheel. It is really not that hard.It took me about 45 minutes. You just take the back of the tv off and remember where the screws came from.It helps to take pictures as you progress further into the project.
I can try to post a type of step-by-step process for everyone when I get a chance. As you get into the tv you can pretty much see where you need to go and how to get there.
I will type more soon.
