I am a new to this site so I not sure if this problem has been addressed. I have a Toshiba TDP-S3 and I am trying to run my DVD player through the M1-DA port.
I have pruchased a M1 to DVI adapter and hooked up a DVI to HDMI cable from the projector to the DVD player. I get a great picture for about 5 sec and it starts to flash the screen on and off. I have my DVD player set to auto and the same thing, then switched it to 480p and no change. I have tried 5 diffrent DVD players with the same out come.
Has anyone had sucess using this projector or an LP500/530 in HDTV ? any thoughts as to what I am doing wrong? All help would be appreciated.

Based on the age of that projector I would expect the digital input to not be HDCP compliant which means the DVD player will turn off the digital output due to copy protection requirements (HDCP).
You must only use component video to get video into that projector, and if you are using a digital feed, then it must be from a player which does not have HDCP on the output.
By law, all DVD players are supposed to have HDCP on their digital outputs. AV Integrated - Theater, whole house audio, and technology consultation during the build and installation process in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. | --- Advertisement ---

Thanks for your response. Yes you are correct, it is not HDCP compliant. I have purchased a DVI to component cable. Can I use my M1 connection for the component by converting the M1 to DVI to Component? If this doesn’t work what are your thoughts on using a HD Fury, HDCP Stripper any experience with one?
I am currently looking at an Epson Powerlite 720 Projector to replace this one if nothing works. The TDP-S3 works great but I might want more than it can give | member Joined: Jun 4, 2005 Posts: 869 |
Well you could, if the DVD player supports analog out over it's DVI port (seriously doubt it). Changing the plug type doesn't convert the signal from digital to analog.
What you need is to go component from the player to the M1 port.
Unfortunately, if you're looking to use upconversion from the DVD player to the projector it won't work. By design they don't operate higher than 480p over analog.
A Blu-Ray player, using it's component outs, will currently give you HD with Blu-Ray discs. But DVD upconversion will not work. | --- Advertisement ---

What I propose to do is run the component out of my DVD player through a component to DVI cable, and plug that DVI end to the M1/DVI adapter to the projector, do you think this would work? |
