I'm looking at a system for my media room and Axiom Epic 60 - 500
> Home Theatre Ensemble in a 7.1 configuration is high on my list based on referrals and reviews. Unfortunately, I have not been able to listen to them. Any comments for me.

Axiom makes some excellent products. The reality of speaker listening is that in a store you never actually get to properly hear what ANY speaker will sound like because it isn't in your home.
Read what reviews you can, then try it out.
