It sounds like it could be the color wheel, I would make sure first. This is one of the most expensive ones out there at about $300!!

I haven't been inside that series, so I couldn't tell you how to get in.

New guy here that needs some help. I am glad I ran across this forum as I had no clue as to why my projector failed the other night. I think this is the failure and may try to repair this myself. I have not opened up the projector yet to verify, but all my symptoms sound like a color wheel failure. Can anyone help me to open up a Sharp XV-Z2000?

So, I am watching the other night and I hear a little pop and the fan hum noise gets a little louder. I could also smell a slight burnt smell. Picture was fine for about 5 mins. and I decided to shut down. The next day, I fired it up and the colors are all washed out and orangy. Watched it for a while to see what would happen and it became more washed out and the fan noise got louder. Fired it up again last night to see what it looked like and it took forever for a picture to come up and the fan noise was now more pronouned and ocsillating. I'll try opening it up tonight, but it sure sounds like a color wheel failure, no?

Sheridan, what do you think? Thanks for the offer to help all of the folks here - can you price up a color wheel replacement for me? I think I would like to repair this as it was a pretty good projector just a few years ago and I am not too keen on spending $2,000+ for a new one. Thank you!

Sheridan,

I'm looking for the color wheel for a NEC LT260K, which I believe is 12JS6162 from one of your earlier posts. It sounds like you might be able to source this part. If that is true I can be contacted at kenndahl_1999 within yahoo.com. Thanks for all your help in this area.

Sheridan,

Back in 2010 you were involved in this thread. One posted stated he had a Benq W9000 that needed a new color wheel. I now find myself in that same position and this thread came up in a Google search.

Are you still in a position to be able to help out with this?

Thanks,
