There are reports of the Toshiba A2 HD-DVD player dropping to $198 real soon now. I think that from that point forward, there will always be a brand name HD-DVD player in the under $200 price point. We may even see $149 by early next year. If the ODM no-name manufacturers get in on the action, we could even see $99 next year. That will make HD-DVD a reasonable upsell from standard DVD even for non-techies.
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=12003973#post12003973The A2 is 1080i, but on projectors with good scalers it won't make much difference. And for those of us with 720p projectors it's a very good solution.
On that note, I think that the Oppo was a good deal a year ago, but in today's market it's not a good buy.
