Many thanks - here goes. I have been given a Barco Reality 6300 by my employer - it is surplus to requirements. Before it was given to me it was used occasionally and I have no reason to think it was not 'perfect'. However, when I got it it had no lamp. It also had no remote control. I bought a brand new lamp from ebay and fitted it. The projector now 'fires up' and I get a 'white' raster. The first job is to reset the hours meter - and here is where my problems start. The projector has a keypad on the rear panel that I am pretty certain I can use instead of a remote control. Using the keypad I can switch the projector on and turn it to standby - only. According to the instruction manual if I press 'ENTER' on the keypad I should be presented with a menu of options - one of which is to go into the service mode and reset the lamp hours etc. My problem is I cannot get the (or indeed any) menu(s) to come up when I press the ENTER button. I should be able to also select the necessary video input by pressing buttons 1,2,3,4 etc etc on the keypad - when I press these buttons and observe the front panel of the projector, (where the input are connected) I can see a red 'inputindicator' led moving between the input connectors which tells me that the projector is apparently selecting the various inputs. However, even though the projector seems to be selecting various inputs I never get any picture.
So, my problem seems to be that at no stage am I able to 'modulate' the projector output either with a selected video source or internal menus!! I get a nice 'white' raster but no pictures or menus.
It seems to me that the keypad is working since the projector does sort of seem to acknowledge buttons presses but I don't get any response (apart from switch on/standby). I know the projector was fine - apart from the lamp - before it was given to me. It was used day to day with a remote control but that became lost before the projector was given to me. Is this the key to the answer? - the remote control?
I have contacted Barco customer service in Belgium but they do not seem to undestand my problem and their suggestions are professional but ultimately not very helpful.
Sorry to 'go on' a bit but I hope I've explained my problem clearly enough. Regards, yt. |

Hi,
My first posting. Would this be the correct area of the forum to ask about a technical problem I have with this model? I wouldn't like to waste anyoneis time. |

Riverdale,
It sounds like you got a great deal on the projector and lens. I inherited quite a few Barco projectors when I took my job. They are a nice projector for their time but the killer for me was $750 bulbs and only 750 hours of bulb life.
It does look like yours has better bulb life but only if you get the special long life bulb. I understand that with the deal you got that you would want to stick with it in fact I am sure I would also. But as soon as you have to replace a bulb or start looking at changing features (Lens) looks at the costs of maintenance and upkeep verses the performance enhancement you will get spending the same money on a different projector.
Just my 2 cents. |
