Topic:   Epson 2030 installation

He guys, the theater revamp is steaming towards full functionality. My original setup had a lightolear sceenist lighting control system. That bad boy had frozen so the sceens couldn't be reprogrammed and in addition had no infared control interface. Years ago I picked up a Lurton Grafix eye 3 zone control. I happen to have 3 zones of light. Left and right wall sconces, three wall washers on the screen wall and three spots over the present seating area. It took about a half hour to remove and replace the old system. I had a Harmony 700 universal remote that I configured to handle the new equipment. The cool thing is now a sub routine on the remote takes care of the lights. Hitting pause brings enough path lighting up for intermissions. Play fades everything back to viewing levels. Pretty cool ! Since my equipment stack is beside and behind my new seating arrangement I ordered a infared repeater system to echo the signals back to the projector and equipment stack. Some things work ok with the bounce off the screen, but not reliable. That should be here early next week. Although my soundis pretty great, I'm still looking to acquire a new receiver that is networkable as well as HDMI capable. That's not super high priority as everything works to a more than acceptable level. Im planning to add full height black velvet screen curtains that center draw with a power remote controlled rod. That same project may include a horizontal masker to cover they grey bars on the programming that is in the wide screen format. The bars aren't a real distraction, but the challenge and fun of engineering that system is the part I really enjoy. Inthe meantime, Ive screened a new movie every night since I got it up and running !

Topic:   To 3D or not to 3D-that is the question

Well for movies I still think 3D is a bit of a gimmick. It's fun every once and awhile, but can get nauseating during a particularly long film. 3D gaming, on the other hand = mindblowing. If you're a PC gamer then 3D's the way to go. I couldn't imagine playing games in 2D anymore. Like everybody else said, 3D is essentially a standard feature, so there's no reason to avoid it. If you're strapped for cash, you can't beat the 1080p ViewSonic PJD7820HD for $700, though it may be a bit bright for a dedicated home theater room unless you want a 200"+ screen. Just don't buy it if rainbow artifacts annoy you. Personally I don't mind them.

Topic:   What would cause BrilliantColor to get stuck in the "off" position, and how do I fix it?

So I found out how to get into the service menu (simultaneously push the "source" and "enter" button on the projector panel itself), but even after trying every factory reset option on the menu, I still can't get it to come on. I really don't want to have to send it back to ViewSonic, can't anybody help?

Topic:   What would cause BrilliantColor to get stuck in the "off" position, and how do I fix it?

I normally turn BrilliantColor off at night for accurate colors, and on during the day for a brighter picture. Only this morning, it wouldn't turn on. There is nothing I can do to get it to turn back on, and I can't figure out why. At first I thought I had to let the projector warm up first, but even after running for hours I still can't turn it on. Factory resetting doesn't fix it. What would cause it to get stuck off, and how can I fix it? I can't find instructions for entering the service menu anywhere on the web. I could really use some help!

Topic:   Viewsonic PJD7820HD 1080p with 3D Ready

Hi there, NooB here. I've been researching for a 3d ready projector. Was thinking about purchasing the Viewsonic 5533 due to warranty and decent price/value for what I need. But I ran into the Viewsonic PJD7820hd. That one is supposed to be full 1080p 3d for less than $800. It looks like it has not been released yet and JR has it preorder for 699. Anyone got some opinions on this projector. Are we ready to see a new wave of below $800 1080p 3d projector?
