I'm getting ready to sell my first projector. (Eiki xga980ue) due to a bad blue lcd (slight blue hue on screen) I bought it for $150 on ebay not knowing about the bad lcd, however I made the best of it and took it apart to learn the whole 3lcd system and adjustments myself, managed to put it all back together and fix a few things. Not bad for my first projector.
Anyway, I’m looking for something in the $400-500 range around the same res (1024x768 native or better) and decent lumens 1000-1900 for dark in home cinema viewing.
Now I really had minimal knowledge about pj's when I bought this, and got it by chance. This pj was fine for the room when it came to brightness, most of the viewing was at night or I just covered the windows anyway. But I did most of my viewing by SD dvd. The native res of my current pj is 1024x768. Since I am just viewing dvd's then should I look for a less expensive PJ with a lower native resolution for best picture quality?
However I do plan to eventually make a HT-PC and have all my playback get upconverted to 1024x768 or 1280x1024 so I should find a PJ with those native resolutions correct? Also do most projectors do 16:9 even if they have a 4:3 native?
Hello, My blue LCD has turned out to be bad, so I was wondering if anyone had any old EIKI projectors that dont work or are willing to part out,
I need a Red or Blue LCD for the xga980ue. Also interested in models around the same year as they use the same lcd panels. Any EIKI projector from the same era with a 1.3 TFT LCD will work (1024x768). Please contact me if at all interested and if you can provide pictures that would be extra special ;) I do have paypal.
Type: 1.3" TFT LCD (3)
Native: 1024x768 Pixels

Ok so after further investigation of my 3lcd Eiki lc-xga980ue I noticed that my blacks are blue especially the top corner of the right screen is an uneven blue smear like shape. When other colors are on the screen you can't really see them but my the screen definitely has a blue hue to it.
Now is this a polarizer or a Dichroic Mirror/filter?
My assumption is its the blue Dichroic filter
Do polarizers have anything to do with the colors or is that solely the Dichroic Mirrors?
Calling all projector junkies...
I just picked up a EIKI LC-XGA980U

I'm curious about what type fans they use in projectors? Are they simular to newer pc fans? If not, where and how can I get a hold of some fans that would work?
Basically I want to take out my original fan and swap it for something more powerful and quieter...
PJ is shipping to me now via good ol ebay.
Ok what i'm looking for is the ability to use the HDB15 vga connection on my projector without a computer, via DVI upconverting dvd player. This wont work will it? DVI-D or DVI-I dvd players are the only ones out there correct? In order to use it on my projector with a dvi to vga adaptor I would need a DVI-A dvd player which I have no idea if they make one.
Secondly, I have an old SONY DVP-530d with component output, y, Pb/B-Y, Pr/R-Y connector. Would this output work with a simple HDB15 RGB to Component cable? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/378044-REG/Hitachi_CMT_HIT_001_CMT_HIT_001_Component_Cable_HDB15.html
Otherwise i'm going to just use the Svhs connection for my dvd player and the vga from my computer if that picture doesnt look good and play dvd's from there. However I would like to know if I can just use that cable to play directly from my dvd player.
Thanks :)
