Hi all,
I did manage to build a vga cable for the VP800. Check out my post on diyAudio forums here: http://tinyurl.com/2x892h

Did you try using a tester to see if there is current going through?
Did the old bulbs work, or did you just acquire this?
If it's just the fans, those can be replaced. They are just case fans like one would find in a computer. |

I have the VP800 PLUS model and a "for parts-non functioning" VP800 as well.
A MAC vga adapter will work on the "non-standard VGA input" on the back. You should be able to get these at any computer store.
I just got mine a few weeks ago and I'm having a blast watching movies in my room.
Only problems so far are that I try to run a VIDEO switcher box (KVM or RCA) and with KVM i get no signal and with the RCA box, it messes with the colors.
I know these devices lower the quality of the signal, but one should still get a fairly clear picture through them.
Anyone else have this issue? |

Well, another forum pointed me towards www.pinouts.ru
I found the pinout for the standard 15pin VGA that I'll need (http://pinouts.ru/Video/VGA15_pinout.shtml), but I have no clue what the large 15pin connector is on the back of the projector. My friend seems to think it might be a Mac VGA port: http://pinouts.ru/Video/maclcvideo_pinout.shtml
If it is a Mac VGA port, might this work? http://www.pccables.com/70023.htm
Anybody know?
Also, one more question to throw out there. Looking at other picture of the projector, it seems mine is missing a piece.
I've attached a few pictures to show what I'm talking about. Two are pictures I found on the net that show the missing lense circled in red. The third picture is of my projector showing that this lense isn't present on mine.
Anyone know what that piece does? Do I need it? Can I buy or make one?
Thanks for the help everyone! |

Hi all, first post here on Big Screen. I just bought a Lightware VP800+ and when I got it home, I found out that it uses a non-standard VGA connector input! I contacted PLUS (who now owns Lightware) and they do have the adapter for sale (https://store.buyplusdirect.com/buycategory.asp?categoryid=39) but they want $19 dollars for it plus $6 shipping ... $25 is way too much money for me right now.
Any chance somebody here on the forums has this projector (or a similar one) that uses this cable? If so, is it possible that somebody could give me a quick pinout of the cable? Or maybe somebody knows where to find this information already? I've already got the connectors and plenty of cable, seems like a much cheaper solution for me.
Thanks! |
