Our church is 20'x60' with 9' ceilings, has 150 our so seats, small raised platform the width of the sanctuary about 10' or so deep. There are several windows and bright flourescent lighting throughout.
To start the projector will be run on a stand and project on the wall, but will eventually be ceiling mounted with a screen.
Req's:
Content: We will be presenting power point presentations, DVD/VHS videos and would like to be able to leave the lights on and the windows open.
Screen size: I am guessing a screen size of 6x8 (or so) and that seems to translate to 3000 lumens or more (please correct me if I am wrong).
Throw distance: The throw distance is flexible, we can have as close as 10' or up to 50'. I am guessing we will choose this distance based on the projector.
Inputs: I need to have VGA (PC) and composite video (DVD/VHS combo player) at the minimum unless there is an effective (cost and function) way of running DVD/VHS player through the PC. I don't care about audio, we will run that through the sound system. What are the downsides of not having an HDMI input?
Outputs: I would like to have a monitor or 2 facing the projection screen for those on the platform. We may also look at running a monitor to the rear corner.
Control: I will want to control the projector (inputs and power) from the rear of the sanctuary when the installation is complete. The Vivitek doesn't seem to have a rear facing IR receiver - what are my options if is not controlable by IR remote?
I have been given a budget of $700 or so (not much more) for the projector and found the Vivitek D832MX met most if not all of the criteria. Opinions on this projector/manufacturer? I have not been able to find much else out there. I did see the BenQM624 for under $700 but it sold out at that price.
What else should I consider?
Thanks in advance. |
