Hi All,
I hope a good tech out there can identify immediately what's wrong with about 15 different Epson models from the POWERLIGHT EMP61,62,84 & others with the same type color cube. I think you'll know right away what the trouble is.
What I have is they all work fine & show a good picture with the exception of bluish/purple type dots over 99% of the surface. They are especially visible when the menu button is pressed as the entire background of the menu is covered with them. On white backgrounds the dots/blotches are yellow.
There are so many of these dots that I thought they belonged there at first. But they don't. I pulled an LCD color cube & checked the polarizer Lenses that were attached to the cube (2 on right & left LCDs lense facing towards you & 1 on back LCD with 2nd polerizer attached to the top of the cube cover when removed, everything appeared normal except for dust which I cleaned with air & had to fabricate a very thin but fairly stiff little piece of plastic with lense cloth around it to fit in the very small space between LCD & first polarizer.
After cleaning & reassembly the spots remained. I have changed main boards with known good unit to no avail. I have changed color cubes with everything attached from known good unit & spots are gone. Leads me to believe that the blue LCD panel is bad? Does that sound correct? When I disconnect the blue LCD ribbon the dots are gone.
If so does anyone know where I may find complete color cubes used, refurbished or new at reasonable prices or if need be one LCD panel to replace bad ones? Any help is much appreciated as the projectors' are in A+ condition with new lamps in most. A screenshot is attached.
Thank You Very Much,
Jim
