Topic:   Lamp Replacement whilst Ceiling Mounted

Hi My Toshiba EW25 is ceiling mounted. The lamp cover is located on top of the unit, thus with the unit upside down in the ceiling mounted position the lamp cover is easily accessible. Whilst waiting for my replacement lamp to arrive I removed the projector, removed the broken lamp, cleaned out the filters and all accessible compartments of the projector. As a result I am sure that there aren't any pieces of glass or other debris that will emerge from the unit if opened in the upside down position. After cleaning it I mounted the projector again to keep it safe from harm. The replacement lamp has now arrived and the question is whether it will have an impact on lamp life if I mount the lamp with the projector in its ceiling mounted, upside down position? The unit is easily accessible. So apart from the obvious dangers of working with the unit over-head, concerned just about the life span of the lamp, can I mount the lamp whilst the unit is ceiling mounted or should I remove the unit and mount the lamp whilst having the unit laid down on a flat surface such as a table? Regards Wicus

Topic:   TDP-EW25 resolution troubles

Hello I have a big issue with numerous TDP-EW25 projectors. It's a 16:10 projector that supports 1280:800 laptop resolutions. With some laptops however the projection is shifted above the top of a perfectly alligned projection screen and even cut off at the top. So almost 10% of the laptop image is gone! Toshiba Europe told us to try upgrading the firmware and indeed it helped on 1 projector and a certain laptop. On four other EW25's we have installed at a customer, it has become even worse. This specific firmware version causes that some other brand of laptop it's resolutions aren't even recognised at all although it's just 1280:800, 800:600... The projection is greenish and a very low resolution instead. Has anybody faced problems like these before? I can send some pictures and a more detailed problem description if you like. Any help much appreciated.

Topic:   Need advice on projector for Gliding simulator project

Hi all, I am new to the forum, have had a look about and done some research, but would appreciate some expert help! I am currently nearing the end of my 4th Year Uni project. It is a portable gliding simulator and can bee seen in all it's glory at http://tomsglidersim.blogspot.com/ The image for the sim will be projected on to a curved screen and I am currently looking for suitable projectors. I am mainly looking at short throw projectors as there isn't a whole lot of space. The toshiba I specified is one example. However, the throw is a it _too_ short, and would mean mounting it just above the pilot's head. Can anyone advise as to a good projector avaliable in Australia for around the $2000AUS or less? Needs to be WXGA, 16:10, and pretty bright as will be used in a tent. Most importantly the throw needs to be around 2.5m There is so much to choose from that I'm a bit lost. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks Tom
