Topic:   Living like a king.

Man, I am enjoying my projector this football season! My local channels are in HD this season for the first time. Alabama is ranked number 2 this year. I have DVR'd the LSU and Tennessee game. I have watched Mt. Cody block the FG about 50 times and Julio Jones run for 73 yards on a touchdown pass about 20 times. The HC1600 looks bright and clear on my 60 inch screen. Directv has a lot of great HD channels. If you are not watching in HD you are missing out.

Topic:   Best entry-level HD Projector

Anyone care to recommend an entry level ($900 or less) HD projector for a new theater room? I purchased a Mitsubishi HC1600 a few weeks ago from PowerSellerNYC but it never arrived and they seem to have no idea where it is or even who they shipped with. I think it's time to give up on them and order from someone else but everyone is sold out of the HC1600s now. This got me looking at some of the other options and now I'm just confused. This is the scenario: - New dedicated theater room with good light control. No windows and only one exterior door with a small portal-type window. - Overhead lights are recessed with dimmers. - Room size is 24' x 18' - Projector will be ceiling mounted with 13.5' between the projector and the screen. - Enough room for up to 120" screen on the wall. I plan to try painting the screen with Behr Silverscreen but if that doesn't work I'll purchase a fixed 80-100" screen. - Projector will primarily be used for movies and television but we'll also have a Wii connected and a vga input for occasional laptop connection. - Projector mount location is wired with HDMI, Component and VGA cables. - I have kids. They break stuff. Anything weak will perish. Any recommendations considering this scenario? I'm looking at the Optoma HD65 now but the review here seems to indicate it might not be the best option for a ceiling mount in a dedicated room. Is there anything else in this price range that I should consider? Thanks for the help!

Topic:   HDMI copywright protection

I can't watch Pay per view movies on HDMI because it says my TV does not support copy wright protection so I have to use component cables which does not have the best quality. Same thing with regular signal TV. Is there a way around this?

Topic:   I got my HC1600!

The HC1600 looks great. I have it on component video till the HDMI cable arrives Thursday. It is very bright, very sharp, and very quiet. Yes, there is a rainbow effect but it is very minor. If someone had not mentioned it I would not have noticed. When something very bright moves against a dark background sometimes you can see rainbow colors out of the corner of your eye. It is very minor. This is the best deal out there. I watched The Dark Knight on my DVR in HD. It was stunning. I really appreciate the zoom lens on the projector, something the HD65 does not have. I am in a little log house and I have a bright, sharp, 60 inch, HD TV in my house. It looks great. Football season here I come!

Topic:   Mounting Etc. For a New Guy...

Hey guys, figured this was where the pros were hiding. I've been planning my theater for awhile now, and finally have all of the components selected and delivered. I went with a mitsubishi hc1600, and i am blown away by it. I've got the luxury of having a pitch black basement, so I could afford to go a little lower grade...if anyone is looking a projectors, I got mine from newegg for 670.00...great deal. Anyway, I've got a good handle on wiring etc, but just curious about the actual mounting of the projector. I attached 2 pictures of my basement, and as you can see I'm dealing with a ceiling fan and a window...and I certainly don't want to be too close to either of them. Because the fan is centerline in the room, I'll have to mount the projector off center and adjust with keystone...will that work ok, or should I remove the fan? Also, can any recommend a mount that will ensure I can clear the soffet area in the front of my room? I'm thinking about this guy: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BSFY48/ref=asc_df_B000BSFY48892374?smid=A1LD8YQ23K3G6J&tag=dealtmp4681-20&linkCode=asn&creative=380341&creativeASIN=B000BSFY48 Thanks for any help!
