I have a Sony VPL-VW40 and I'm thinking of upgrading to a VW60 mainly for the ability to adjust the convergence. Other than that what are the differences between the two PJ, does anyone know?
Thanks,

hum well that’s kind of disappointing to hear. Being that I’ve had that screen less then 30 days and i haven’t opened it up yet do you have any suggestions on a good screen to get? I had an old 1024x768 projector before i got the sony and had that projected onto the wall. Not the best picture quality. Stepping up to the sony wanted a good screen and to keep the price down if at all possible. I have about $450 in that previous screen. I would like to keep it at or around $800 at the most. Though i'd rather do it once and do it right so i can give a little on that price. I like the idea of having a fixed wall screen so i dont have to worry about my wife messing up the screen trying to open and close a pull down one. Any help would be appreciated as I’m new to the home theater using a projector.
Size screen do you recommend?
this projector is in a basement. the main chairs will be about 15ft away from the screen. It does have 3 windows and a door but those will be covered with blinds and a heavy cover on top of that to block out almost 100% of the light. This will be for watching movies 95% of the time.
i kind of like the looks of the Carada Citerion. Good screen?

I am also doing a Sony VPL-VW40. screen is a Elite Screens - SilverMAX 120" Widescreen. which is 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio; 59" x 105" viewing area; 160° viewing angles.
I want to fill the entire screen. Which I believe my minimum distance to the screen has to be 147inches. it can be a maximum of 252 inches away but then that requires the lamp to be either higher or room darker correct? my question is what is the drop that i have to drop the projector. I'm going to mount the screen directly to the celing. I'm looking at the paperwork that came with the projector and it has listed as a 38inch drop. I assume thats without using the keystone adjustment. Which I want to stay away from as you loose quality when using that. Is this correct as 38inch seems like a lot to drop the projector. |

I have a high ceiling with a 30 inch drop distance from the ceiling to the top edge of the projection screen image. Is it necessary to have the projector lens at least be inline with the top edge of the screen (i.e. projector on a 30 inch pole)?
Are there adjustments that can be made to the Bravia VPL-VW40 lens to reduce the length of the ceiling drop? If so, will I ultimately sacrifice image quality if I take that approach?
Note: The room is set up in such a way that a coffee table mount isn't feasible. |
