Topic:   Help for calculating BenQ W5000 Throw Distance

Hi there Any one can tell me the exact projector distance for 96" Diagnol screen. I am celing mounting it. The projector centrel has two projection calculators, Pro and Classis. However they both are giving me two different numbers. Pro is giving me 14.1' and classi is giving me 15.5Ft for 16:9 I don't know why this variation. Any help will be greatly appreciated Jay

Topic:   Projector as monitor replacement

I was hoping to get some thoughts on a HD projector as permanent replacement for my computer monitor. I'm sick of staring at my screen from only 3 or so feet away! Since my life as a programmer is always in front of that monitor, an investment of 3k or 4k is OK with me. I never considered it before because price vs resolution was way out of range. But now you can pick up a BenQ W5000 for about 3k or less. It actually has a higher resolution than my current monitor! The BenQ (as well as other true hd projectors) is 1920x1080 and my monitor is 1680 x 1050. Another plus is that in the future, I could have 2 of these projectors for a seamless dual-monitor system. (pending an extremely wide wall) Has anyone had any experience with this, or have hooked up their computer to a home-theater-style projector? Thanks!!!!

Topic:   BenQ W5000 vs Panasonic AE2000

I'm a long time owner of a an oldie (but goodie) NEC HT-1000, which has served me well... I soon get to take back over my long, narrow completely dark basement, but only 7 foot celing :( I have been lusting after a Panasonic AE2000, but the latest review of the BenQ W5000 has me thinking its the *best* 1080p projector out there. Yes, I'm a sharpness fan. My existing old NEC HT-1000 is old DLP, and color wheel artifacts have never bothered me. I can ceiling mount the new project almost anywhere and I have a 10 foot side DaLite Screen I plan to use (1.1 gain). For the BenQ, I think I have to be about 18 feet back to get the full use of the screen. This seems to be about the edge of the brightness/lumens recommended range, but the room will be absolute dark. I would _LOVE_ to see Projector Central do a head-to-head comparison review of the BenQ W5000 vs Panasonic AE2000!! These seem to be the best going 1080P projectors out there right now unless you spend a lot more money. I can handle about 2,600. (Is the JVC RS2 that much better?? forget it I cant handle 7K). Many thanks to all the experts on this forum!
