My BenQ W5000 projector ,on several occasions (four or five times in the past three months)suddenly produces six inch wide bars covering the left half of the screen.The bars are not black therefore the image is actually present but in a layering effect. The remainder of the image remains unchanged. The projector is ceiling mounted so the actual problem would probably appear on the right side if the unit were table mounted. On another forum I have found references to similar problems with this unit with owners saying they had to have the DMD board replaced. Most of these problems were apparently under warranty, which my projector definitly is not.It is on the 2nd bulb and is nearing 6000 hours of use. Football season will start in a little over two months and I definitly need a reliable projector since my house is 'football central'. Does anyone know what a ball park figure for replacing a 'DMD' board may be and should this amount of money be invested in this unit. When it functions properly the picture is excellent but I do not tolerate undepedability well. Opinions and or advise welcomed!

Hi there Any one can tell me the exact projector distance for 96" Diagnol screen. I am celing mounting it. The projector centrel has two projection calculators, Pro and Classis. However they both are giving me two different numbers. Pro is giving me 14.1' and classi is giving me 15.5Ft for 16:9 I don't know why this variation. Any help will be greatly appreciated Jay

Anybody experienced the issue with Benq W5000 of showing the video only on half screen and other half is just black and white strips. Lamp hours of mine is about 900hrs.
