Topic:   Projector Distortion

I am having a little trouble getting my top and bottom edges to be straight. It seems that if I get the bottom edge straight then the top edge goes from left to right large to small. If I then straighten the top the bottom does the same thing. At first I thought it was that my wall where my fixed mount screen is hanging on was maybe a little un-square but that was not the case. Any ideas.

Topic:   correct projector placement

I have just bought the Epson powerlite 1080( not UB) and I am getting ready to mount on ceiling and need advise! My room is 12'X22' and ceiling height is 9'and room is total dark. QUESTIONS-- how far back from the screen should I mount the projector? I have a 120 inch screen. the table shows a big variance in mounting distances? Should I mount the projector close as I can to screen? I know this helps in increasing lumins, and I will want to turn some low lights on for watching sports. Is there ANY advantage to mounting the projector at the farest distance from the screen? or is always best to mount at closest distance to the screen?? QUESTION 2-- what is the correct height from the ceiling( 9') should I mount the projector? Thanks for anyone who can give me some information on this

Topic:   Problem with Epson Powerlite 1080

Hello everyone, my first post here. A year ago, I purchased an Epson Powerlite 1080. I love it. Two months ago, the HDMI stopped working, so I sent the projector back to Epson and they sent me not my original projector fixed, but a refurbished projector. First let me say that my original projector was perfect in the picture department, crisp and clear. When I got the refurbished replacement, I noticed that starting in the center of the the image going to the right, there was a slight blurry look. I called Epson and they had me turn over the projector, take out the bulb and put it back in. After this, it looked decent, but after a week, now it's the left side that looks blurry, and when you get to the very far left, it is very blurry, which can be seen on any picture projected and even moreso when there is writing on the screen (like the FBI warning on a blu-ray). Has anyone else had this type of problem? My big complaint now is that I had a perfect projector that only needed, probably, a new HDMI switch. They never sent me my repaired projector but the refurbished one that is blurry. I saved a long time to be able to buy this projector and feel ripped off now. My projector was cared for, dusted, and hardly ever touched, I have no idea where the one they sent me has been or how it was handled. It was blurry since I got it. Is there any way I can demand a NEW projector from Epson? Why should I have to deal with refurbished models when I had one that was picture perfect? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I do not trust getting yet another refurbished model, and frankly think this is now unfair since the replacement was bad from day one. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help:-)

Topic:   Epson 1080p do I need a receiver with a scaler

I'm looking to upgrade my receiver. I've got an Epson Powerlite Home Cinema 1080. A lot of the new receiver upconvert and scale inputs, do i need that or will the epson do it itself? And if it does have a scaler what brand. The sony and denon receivers use a Faroudja DCDi for 1080p. Onkyo it seems also uses faroudja but doesn't go 1080p. The Realta scaler is used by Denon and onkyo high end. And yamaha uses Anchor Bay technologies but the lower ends don't convert 480i. If I don't need a scaler then I can look at some lower end models again.
