Topic:   500 or 1000 lumens

Hi! im a DJ from Argentina, and i own a Infocus lp435z (1000 lumens) projector, mostly used for some presentation or small videos on weddings or bithdays. i want to buy a backup projector, used and cheap. maybe i can get a Infocus LP420, rated 500 lumens. not will be used a lot, maybe when i need two projectors or for back up only. the question is: in a dark but big room, using a 72 X 96 screen, the lp420 will be enough? will be so much difference with the LP435z? many thanks!! Luis, from Argentina

Topic:   help/advice: replace lamp or upgrade projector?

Hello, Well tonight the lamp on my 5 year old Infocus LP435z exploded, the glass shattered and a puff of smoke came out of the projector. It was pretty disturbing, and the bulb only had about 300 hrs on it. Luckily I got the projector used a couple of years ago for cheap. My question is: the replacement bulb costs $400, and I'm wondering if I should just upgrade to a new projector. The LP435z has nice specs like 1024x768 DLP, and I'd only be willing to spend up to about $800-900 to replace it. Are the projectors in that price range comparable to the lp435? Does anyone have any recommendations? I use it for watching movies in my living room, and once in a blue moon I do a slide show from my computer. Also, does the fact that the lamp exploded so violently mean anything is wrong with the projector? Well, I guess that's enough questions for now. Any help is greatly appreciated. V
