Topic:   Bought used Epson TW700 (aka PowerLite Pro Cinema 810) - is it supposed to be this dark?

Hi, I bought a used Epson TW700 (aka PowerLite Pro Cinema 810 in the US) and it's got 900 hours use of the lamp. I mean the lamp is supposed to have 3000h lifetime, so this should leave me with good 2000h still left. However, the image is very dark! When I select the dynamic mode (the brightest) it's barely enough to watch in a dark room with just one small (11 watts) light at night. The dark modes (cinema or what they are called) are impossible to watch in any circumstances. And under late afternoon conditions the image is almost invisible in every mode and absolutely unwatchable. The contrast is simply not there. Is it this dark for everybody? The projector is set about 2m from a white screen, this is not a big room. I tried all the settings, brightness, contrast, everything I could I bumped up. No dice :( Some time ago I had a Panasonic LB51 for a couple of nights and it was like night and day, the Panasonic was so bright I could watch it by daylight! So the way I see it, there are three options: 1. It's just this dark for everybody. Get over it. 2. I have been cheated, the lamp is much older than 900h. Can you reset the lamp hour counter? And if so, can you check the true age of the lamp somehow? If I can confirm the lamp is too old, I'll just save up to buy a new one, but I don't want to throw away $400 just to check :) 3. The projector is somehow very dirty inside (which is possible since it was used in a very smoky (from cigarettes) place. If so, should I try to disassemble it and clean? I'm good at electronics, so I can manage to take it apart and put it back if it's not too complicated. Can you help me decide? Many thanks! Peter

Topic:   projector recommendations needed...

Hello, I currently own the Epson EMP TW-700 projector (http://www.projectorcentral.com/Epson-EMP-TW700.htm) which looks to be the european model of the PowerLite Pro Cinema 810. Its a great 720p projector but I'm considering upgrading to a full 1080p projector. I was thinking of a Optoma HD20 because its the cheapest full 1080p projector and is such value for money. My only worry is the 4000:1 contrast compared to the Epsons 10:000:1. Will I be getting a better 'picture' by going with the Optoma, or should I stick with the Epson? I must admit picture quality is one of the most important things to me... Thanks

Topic:   difference betwen powerlite720 and pro810

Hi there, I was wondering if there were any major differences between last year's powerlite pro 810 (also called EMP-TW700 in Europe) and the newly released Epson powerlite home cinema 720 ? It looks like they have mostly similar specs and even the form factor and shape are very similar. I am actually hesitating between those and the Panasonic AX200 Thanks in advance

Topic:   720p Projector for non-widescreen laptop

Hello, Im thinking of buying a home theater projector. Im interested in the Epson TW700 model http://www.epson.com.au/products/projector/emptw700.asp (aka PowerLite ProCinema 810 - as its known in the US). It is a widescreen 720p projector (supports WXGA 1280x720 resolution). I plan to play most of my media via my non-widescreen laptop. My question is...will I still be able to get the WXGA resolution output from the laptop to the projector? Or will the projector downsize/squash/cut the image to fit its standard wide screen projection?
