Didn't go through all the topics on this forum but decided to go ahead and start this up to all users (or former users) of the now four-year oldd PANASONIC PT-AX100U.
I'm curious to know from personal experience the pluses, minuses, issues you've encountered, quick fixes/tweaks, or recommendations for repair/modifications to this highly-rated unit. This is especially so for those who have purchased the unit initially and have now had several years of hours and mileage under your belt.
My story: Just recently purchased a used unit on ebay, with [accordingly] a new lamp. In spite of all the issues I've heard so far (discoloration, power up, panel degradation, etc.), I've decided on this unit after doing a complete 180 from a near decision to stick with DLP, most notably with the great flexibility of placement (lens shift, zoom range, color adjustments, etc.).
My criteria: It's rather specific and fixed. I made an executive decision about a year ago to do away with cable (bad programming, waste of time/couch potato) and focus strictly on a home cinema setup and viewing, averaging no more than four hours per day primarily in the evening with the lowest lumen output setting possible.
Please share your thoughts, as I think it would benefit all!

Hi,
My PT-AX100 has, after 2000 hours (and two years) of watching developed a problem: a greenish tint in the middle of the screen. This color tint is easily noticeable on white background. The area affected is a circle of about 70cm (say, 30 inches?) of diamater in the middle of my 82" screen.
I called Panasonic just to hear the reason is not likely the lamp, but some other failure.
Have you experienced this kind of prenomenon? Thanks.

I'm new to projection devices. Not sure which one to get. How do they compare with each other? Here is the Panasonic one...

Hi guys,
So I have a Pt-AX100U and am very happy with it. We are very careful with the unit and haven't moved the projector in over a year. The current bulb has over 4000 hours on it and is going strong.
I am having a SuperBowl party and am contemplating replacing the bulb. For normal viewing I can't see any problems with the current bulb but I am thinking that maybe it has gotten dimmer over time and being that I watch it everyday I probably can't tell.
Can anyone comment how much brightness the bulb has lost? Is there a chart somewhere graphing brightness over hours? Would there be a noticeable difference? I'd like to have the best possibly viewing experience for the game but these bulbs are really expensive!!!
Thanks in advance,

I have had the Pt AX100U projector for about 1 year now. 750 hours of usage. Since about 2 months now and more and more my image fades ffrom a clear picture and fades to a not as clear picture constantly. Can this be a problem with my lamp or can be something else. I find that if it is my lamp I have not gotten a lot of usuage out of it as it should be good for 2000 hours. Your help would be greatly appreciated as I do not want to buy a lamp at 400 bucks and then find out that this was not the issue.
Thanks |
