I'm trying to understand how to get the best upscaled picture. I have an Epson Home Cinema 400 (720p) projector and a cheap Insignia upscale DVD player and run it to the projector with HDMI cable. Using HDMI there are no options from the DVD player. So what really gets the me the best picture?
Since the projector is 720p, I assume it upscales the picture itself? And if it does, would a $1500 projector processor do better than an $80 DVD player? Would I then run composite cable to the projector?
And if I run composite cables, would I be better off changing settings on the DVD player, or run standard settings?
Thanks |

I have owned 4 projectors- two of them true home theatre. When my Infocus 4805 died, I got an Epson Home Cinema 400. My first reaction was "hmm, it looks different." Not better or worse, just different. Now I switched from a Phillips DVD player using component cables to an Insignia upscale DVD with HDMI cable. I'm having the same reaction. It's different. My question is how can I know what accurate colors are. I would like to go into setting and adjust it, but don't know how to qualify accuracy, or am just changing it based on previous expectations. Thanks.
p.s. Hopefully this question doesn't turn into a DLP vs LCD discussion. Each had qualities that I liked better than the other. |

Just purchased the Epson 400 and would like any opinions on calibration numbers to help with the picture's color. |

I am thinking on this Epson projector as a serious possibility. How does it compare with the Panasonic AX-100U? Anybody with first hand experience with both? Does anybody know whether CostCentral is an authorized reseller so that all warranties and rebates are honored? Thanks for the help in advance,
Jack. |

I am buying my first projector and I want to keep projector and screen cost to about $1500. I came to pick these two projectors because I am doing a family room install where I will be watching sports during the day with ambient light, and my wife gets headaches from the RBE of DLP projectors.
I haven't seen anywhere where these two were reviewed side-by-side. The AX100U I can get for $1299 after rebate and the Cinema 400 I can get for $895 after rebate. From those that have seen both projectors, what makes the AX100U worth the extra $400? Would I be better off getting the AX100U and a low quality screen or getting the Cinema 400 and a good screen?
I have two options:
AX100U $1300
Screen $ 200
--------------------
TOTAL $1500
Cinema 400 $ 900
Screen $ 600
--------------------
TOTAL $1500 |
