Topic:   optoma issues

I've had the same issue. It's more pronounced when it gets hot. My projector is mounted on the ceiling and after I have the fireplace going for about 4 hours, I see the issue. If I turn off the fire, the projector starts to work normally after about 30 mins. One thing I have found is that when it's flickering, I press the power button once which brings up the "Press Power Again to Turn Off" popup. I let this timeout and the colors go back to normal for awhile. I'm guessing that when the projector puts up a menu, it changes the output frequency which forces the color wheel to resync (total guess though /;) I did open my unit and blow it out with compressed air. I didn't see much dust, but after doing so, the problem went away for 4 months. I'm going to clean it again when I replace the bulb in the next few weeks & hope that will provide a miracle cure (I hope, I hope, I hope!)

Topic:   HELP!!! Optoma HD70 "Fan Failure" and then lamp shuts down...?

I just bought the HD70 with 21 hours on the lamp from ebay, which is $400, and I thought it is ok. But the I just powered it on and within 5~10 minutes a message saying "Fan Failure" pops out, and the lamp shuts down. I tried to re-powered it and the message even pop out sooner and again the lamp shuts down... I thought it was because of the heat cuz the temperature light was flashing, so I put a big fan right next to it but it still didn't help..... Same thing happened... Is there anyone has the same problem too? What should I do I am really disappointed..... =[

Topic:   Optoma HDMI no signal with Pioneer VSX 9130

Hi. Thunder got my old pioneer receiver and I bought a new pioneer vsx 9130 receiver. I have tried many ways to connect the receiver to Optoma HD70 projector via HDMI but all attempts have failed. The problem is that it shows NO SIGNAL when I hooked it up with the receiver. The receiver is fine as I can see the picture from my TV sets (one with 1080P and the other with 720P). The projector itself also seems to be fine if I connect it directly to the source such as DVD player via HDMI. At first, I suspected whether the 35ft HDMI cable might be the problem. However, I still don't see any connection between the two even when I use 4 ft cable. I'm wondering if anyone has a similar problem and any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Joon

Topic:   Optoma HD70 economy setting question

After 3 years of use, I have finally had to replace the bulb in my HD70. Now when I try to turn on the economy lamp setting, the menu text for this option is gray'd out and does not allow me to change it. Can anyone help with this? Thanks, Paul

Topic:   Problems with my Optoma HD70 :-(

aside from some small little problems ive had with my HD70 over the last 2 years and some change, i've not got a serious concern. The screen randomly flickers and within that split second all the colors change to something different. every now and then it will just spasm and to it nonstop for about a minute or two. they come with a 2 year warranty and of course mine is right outside that time frame. it's only got 1080 hours on it since new!! I got this on video happening while i was on it yesterday and put it on youtube so optoma service dept could see what it was doing, but they arent really being helpful other than giving me directions on how to send it in. even if i wanted this thing to go through the mail service 2 times, i dont have the money to repair it or replace it. period. I didnt know if this was a common problem, maybe there's a fix that the pros would know that i could try before spending more money than needed to get it fixed. has anyone ever sent a projector in for service? and if so, what is costly? i thought at first it could be my VGA cable from the computer shorting out under my carpet, but as you can see, when i hit the button to search for an input the solid blue screen scrambles through colors on its own-without a video source. any help would be appreciated. even if someone just knows of a good service place here in richmond or the near by cities, i'd really appreciate the info!!
