I don't know where else to post this, but I need some help setting up my Optoma EP1690. Basically when I hook the projector up to the notebook using a VGA to DVI-D cable, the projector cannot find a signal. This is very frustrating. I also tried with an S-Video to RCA cable with the same results. All inputs are turned 'on' and the manual says the projector should automatically find the source, but it just isn't happening. Any thoughts?
BTW. I tested the VGA to DVI-D cable on my current standard monitor and it works flawlessly. :S
Thanks! |

I've put the Optoma EP1690 (widescreen 16:9 DLP, 2500 lumens) into Hooters restaurants around the east coast (Virginia down to Florida) running ~12 hours per day as well as a bar down in Key West who runs them ~14 hours per day.
Both accounts have been issue free. |

Projector inputs: DVI-D HDCP and Component upto 1080p
DVD player outputs: HDMI and Component upto 1080i
Considering all the headache you mentioned above about HDMI->DVI with bit loss, would it be smarter to just use component output? Since HDMI->DVI is a passive adapter while the component output is actively converted inside the dvd player to possibly reduce the errors? |

I have my EP1690 connected to my Comcast HD STB via DVI-D. HD Channels work fine at 1920x540 1080i, but SD channels are cut off. The resolution detected is 1440x240. Is this a limitation of the DVI-D port, or is my projector defective? |
