I have a HD81 i bought in 2007 sometime. It was sold to me as a demo unit, but said it came with a 4 year warranty. Long story short it is now not working (same blue screen and horizontal line issue as everyone else). When i give Optoma the serial # they will not RMA because i am not the original owner. I'm taking this up with the person i bought it from, but assuming i'm SOL what are my options?
The scaler is still fine, and i had JUST bought a brand new bulb. I know the bulb fits the HD81-LV and possibly the HD8000-LV. I wonder if i could somehow just buy the HD81-LV projector without the scaler, assuming they are the same. Could i use the scaler with the HD8000-LV?
Maybe i should look at the epson or panisonic. My room has a fair amount of ambient light so i'm interested in higher lumens. My screen is also on the large side (around 120 i beleive)
thanks,

I need help with my Optoma HD81. I have my projector installed and it requires approximately 30 or so feet of HDMI and Null Modem cables. On an irregular basis, the lamp goes out. It is not a heat issue -- sometimes it happens after only being on for a few minutes. The video source is not the problem either as it will happen with cable, DVDs, and XBOX. Optoma checked the unit and reported it was working without failure. Some nights it will shut down 3 or 4 times, other nights, it will work without failing. Any help is appreciated! |

Just bought the Optoma HD81. distance is about 17.3 feet, diag image is 114 (56x100).
I'm trying to figure out what the offset should be.. On Optomas website it says 137% of the width of the screen.. that cant possibly be right?
Other places i see 127% of the vertical, which would make a lot more since..
can anyone confirm? i dont want to have to mount this thing twice! thank god i have tall ceilings.

Has anyone seen the Optoma anamorphic lens for the HD81 projector? If so, could you give an opinion on its quality? How does it compare to other anamorphic lens. |

Is it true that an HDMI cable > 15 ft will require a booster?
And what sense does this make when virtually all front projectors are going to be more than 15 feet (as the cable runs) from the receiver. |
